Devastating

Devastating

When you first see him at the other side of the room,
Your first thought is a single word.
Devastating.
He is devastating.
An all-consuming wildfire.
You know he is dangerous;
You can see it in the curl of his smile,
The tension beneath a veneer of ease.
You should stay away,
But your (traitorous) heart is full of gasoline,
And you are a pyromaniac.
So instead,
You walk up to him and say,
“Hello, darling.”
