A Murder Most Mysterious

A Murder Most Mysterious

A single drop, a single drip

Into the tea, quick, quick, quick!

And ten minutes later,

Watch him fall, watch him go!

Who poisoned him?

No one knows.

At the scene no clues left behind.

Whose scheme was this?

Whose design?

Too many motives.

The investigation grows cold.

Weeks pass by.

The case must close.

So as for now,

It’s an unsolved case.

While the successful murderer makes an escape.
I wanted to write a slightly humorous poem about a topic that would seem suited for a heavy, serious tone. This is a quirky homage to murder mysteries/cases, one of the genres that I enjoy in both television and books.
