Suburbia

Suburbia
Run away with me
Let’s escape this sprawling settlement that tries to define us
Our atoms are too complex to be categorized so simplistically
What we leave behind will soon be but dust
And urban ruins on the edge of decay
The neighborhood that we no longer belong to will soon erase its memories
Of two kids
Who had bigger dreams than could be contained and sustained in
The suburbs

This poem was inspired by “The Suburbs” by Arcade Fire.
Tomorrow, school starts again and my winter break challenge will be over. Thank you for reading all of my daily pieces over these two weeks.
