The Scorch Season

The Scorch Season
Summer is the harshest season, smothering
Life in dead (heavy) air, igniting
Destruction in the golden-brown brush (arson), terrorizing
The innocent so they seek (uncertain) refuge in the sea.
Breezes give us relief, alleviating
(Temporarily) nature’s torture, deceiving
The (soon-to-be-)victims(-)again and again and again.
******
I was inspired by the first couple of lines of “The Waste Land” by T.S. Eliot, which I learned a little about in English class.
